PLOWSHARES

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven. 2 a time to be born and a time to die, . . .

There is a time for, if not everything, almost everything. I’m not sure about war and hate. Now we have come to the time that we all knew was coming back in September of 2001. Then, the day of my coming was in our near future. The day of my leaving was far out in the mists of the future.

The world changed drastically just 2 days after you issued the call. Many more drastic changes have come and gone on the world stage and in our life together. Together, in the presence and with the help of God, we have faced those changes as faithfully as we could. Best of all, we have managed to love each other through almost 9 years of ministry. That’s no sma ll accomplishment.
That day that was once in our distant, misty future is now clearly visible. We will part company. The congregation of which we have been a part has seen the best of its life, in fact, almost all of its life, and soon will be no more. It will pass into the roll of those which are no more on August 1. It does not go without a will or a legacy. Ministry will continue to be underwritten in its name far into that misty future, and that is good.

We, too, continue in ministry into that unknown amount of time that God has left for us in this life. As long as we live and breathe, we can and will be in service to the one who created us, who redeemed us, who sustains us, who loves us, and in whose image we are created. Cindy and I will see our ministry continue in Clearwater, Kansas, where God has seen fit to send us. You will continue your ministries here in Trumbull County, in congregations where God plants you.

Together we will live in each other's hearts and in the body of Christ. Until we see Jesus face to face, I will miss you. I will always love you.

See you there.
